Hey everyone, I'm putting the simple question: Is it worth to watch the Remaster of Avatar (1)?

I didn't inform me beforehand what got changed in the Remaster and just booked a ticket for a 3D screening because I liked the film when it came out 2009 and watched it many times at home (streaming) several times. What I understood now is that is what got changed:

  • The resolution is not 720p anymore but 4K
  • Rework of some Sound FX
  • More "natural" color grading
  • Better FPS for the 3D effects

For me the remaster is too subtle in changes to go into cinema for it again especially in 3D (but I hardly dislike 3D anyways). I will somehow get me a version of the remaster to watch at home when it comes out though. I missed to many things I would expect from a remaster.

  • The 3D was not always 48fps as promised by some articles. There are times when it looks stuttering especially on the left and ride side of the picture or in the far background (could be the movie theaters fault though)
  • Often times in this movie especially in 3D you are having small things flying in the foreground, they have no new sound effects for that
  • The 4K is ok but not gasping
  • Color grading is hardly noticable as it was already good before
  • Some music pieces could have been redone which were not perfect
