I doubt it, simply because it's going to focus on Peter Quill's origin, I think specifically about his father. That's not as interesting a story as how the group came to be known as "the guardians of the galaxy."
I respect that it's not going to tie into the whole Infinity Stones storyline immensely, but it doesn't look like much from what I know from the trailer.
It could be like Captain America 2, Evil Dead 2, Empire Strikes Back, Dawn of the Dead, Godfather 2, Toy Story 2 and other great part 2s.
It depends. As far as BO, it should definitely pass it and I think it will make a billion. Critical wise will be harder since 92% RT isnt easy to best.
I have just seen it tonight. OK, but isn't better than Vol 1. Funny though.
+1 to that. It was OK, but it wasnt better or even as good as Vol 1. The character interactions are just as strong and funny though, imo its the story itself that lets it down. Not a massive let down, just not as strong as the first one.
I think vol.1 was better story wise and I liked it better. But I got my fair share of laughs during this one and the characters were very well written.

It seems like they try to cram too many special effects into a sequel. I think it lost the biggest appeal of the 1st one - Chris Pratt ' s strong likability as: "Star Lord. Who?" Loved little Groot.

I thought the first one would bomb, and came out of the theater not too impressed.
It ended up being one of the most popular MCU films, and I've come around to really enjoying rewatching it.
I'm done underestimating Marvel films.

Entertaining yes but I liked the first one compared to this.
Even the soundtrack, only plus points for ELO Mr Blue Sky, love that song!

the chain and fox on the run are my plus points for the sound track, but yes vol 1 sound track was better over all.

In my opinion, the first was far better than the sequel. I had high hopes for the sequel, which were not met.
