Can anyone suggest a movie that treats alien contact in a more "realistic" way? I have seen Contact and District 9 by the way.

Ok this is what the OP said

Can anyone suggest a movie that treats alien contact in a more "realistic" way? I** have seen Contact** and District 9 by the way.

The only ones of these:Europa report, moon, 2010, contact, interstellar, Solaris - that actually adresses the OP is Europa Report, and Maybe Intestellar. Whether you personally like the movie or not or highly irrelevant.

there is no contact really, aliens are just ****ing them (I don't want to spoil it, but it's very simple action, which I would not call contact)

as for realism, the crew in ER was very far from realistic

and even if it would match OP's criteria what's the point recommending actually bad movie to waste his time?

How much contact is there in Contact?

Because not everyone shares your taste? I don't see you coming up with any better suggestions either.

And I got the impression he was a she. But whatever.

"Sphere" (from 1998) is similar... A group of scientists being bought in to assess an unknown entity... each chosen based on research of what professions would be most likely needed... i.e. mathematician / biologist / psychologist etc. Which seems to me a more "realistic" response to how we would actually handle it... rather than, say, just sending Will Smith...

But the other ones couldn't drag one across a desert.
