Discuss Son of Saul

i like the subjective point of view... how the movie was shot...

Originally, I didn't feel like watching a holocaust movie, but decided to give it a shot... Intense film, but I'm glad i watched it as it gave me a perspective of how dehumanising the holocaust machine was... I think the way the film is shot shows how industrial it was, while still giving us a subjective point of view, which is anchored in Saul's experience as a Sonderkommando...

We observe, but not with detachment... Interesting film...

I'd agree, almost everything about the film was well done. If they had dispensed with the fantastical mass escape element of the film it could have been a true classic. But yet again, mass extermination of humans isn't emotional enough, so we have to add a layer of historically unfaithful nonsense to an otherwise realistic film to keep the punters on the edge of their seats.
