Without question this is his picture.
Certainly one thing Netflix and other cable channels have done with their burgeoning original programming is to either give a break to the deserving or revive careers that no longer seem to matter to the major studios. Thomas Jane certainly does deserve the accolades his work here earns.
One thing I noticed, as a former actor, was his choice not to move his jaw when he spoke. It's not easy to do unless you do it without thinking; if you hold your stress in your jaw like most hold it in their shoulders\neck. It added a dimension to the character, an underlining current of tension to everything he said. An interesting choice for Jane to make.

It was pretty faithful to the short story. I enjoyed it

Yes it was. Yet as a lot of King's work, some of the creepiness was lost due to so much being in a characters head. The narration helped cover some of his decent into madness; though I suppose he had to be a good ways there to even consider what he did.

He was good, the movie not so much. To nick a (rough) quote from LOTR, it felt like butter spread thinly over too much bread. I wanted to enjoy it more, but frankly it was pretty dull.
