Discuss 2001: A Space Odyssey

Homo erectus? Australopithecus? Homo habilis? Certainly too early and primitive to be Neanderthals. They did not know of Denisovans in the 1960's so that cannot be it. Besides Den was more like Neanderthal. The movie is kinda bogus in this scene. There was no evolution like that as the Bible is accurate (see my postings). But there may have been a cell evolution shared with apes for the daughters of man (who were on Earth since at least 37,000 BC) and a specially created Adam and Eve in the Middle East who were created around 9,000 years back.

Polar bears and grizzlies are pointing at you and laughing.

Not just about evolution, but about that whole Bible being accurate thing. It's nothing but a loose collection of self-contradictory fairytales, written by people ignorant of science and Maths, that anyone with a functioning, critical brain would set aside

Cell evolution! The only way man and apes could have evolved from the same stock. Explains embryology.

Plus, neoteny !

In the book the ape who discovers how to use the bone as a weapon has a name. Moonwatcher. The book was written I believe by the same guy who wrote the film's screenplay but I still think it might be a mistake to refer to the film head ape character as Moonwatcher. See my postings. ( I remember reading somewhere that the movie was secretly written by more than one person.)
