Discuss The Living Daylights

I have been a Bond fan since I was 10, and while I liked the Sean Connery movies (with the exception of Diamonds Are Forever), The Living Daylights is one of my favorite non-Connery Bond movies. Is there anyone our there who shares my opinion?

Whilst it's definitely not my favorite it is a good Bond flick. I actually think Licence To Kill is the most under appreciated Bond movies. It's brutal. The villains are great. It's got blood. Some great action sequences.

Yes. It's hard for people who have only been watching the Bond movies since Brosnan, but License To Kill was considered very violent for 1989. But it was also a good movie.

I was born 86, so pre 1995 I grew up on Connery and Moore movies (reruns on tv). GoldenEye was first Bond movie I saw in the cinema. I was 9. Absolutely loved it. Brosnan was my Bond. He still is. But I have massive appreciation for Licence to Kill.

GoldenEye was a good movie. I remember that my mom (who was from Ireland), was thrilled that an Irish actor was playing Bond. And I do have to say that the pre-credit scene with the bungee jumping from the top of that damn was awesome.

He was such a good Bond. But to be honest I've enjoyed each actors portrayal. Even George Lazenby. On Her Majesty's Secret Service was a great movie and he did such a good job considering it was his first acting role. I'm not one of these Bond fans that hates on certain Bonds or bashes them, there's been some wonderful Bond movies, some good Bond movies and some average Bond movies. There's not one that I hate. Even Die Another Day has its strengths (though certain elements I can't look past 'CGI').

I need to have a Lazenby/Brosnan Bond Marathon soon. I keep meaning too.

I used to despise this movie first time I saw it, but at that time I was still young, and had been spoiled by the humorous Roger Moore movies. But now I like it better and better for each time I see it. :D I still like Licence to Kill a bit more, though.

I'm happy to see someone else who likes Licence to Kill.

It's definitely one of the better ones in general, in my opinion. ;)

Yeah. The whole opening win Felix and the Shark. Robert Davi and Benico Del Toro as the villains. Im definitely going to have my Dalton/Brosnan marathon soon.

Enjoy!

Oyes, pretty awesome, and I love the "darker" Bond. Enjoy your marathon when that day comes. ;)

I'm not really a fan of Dalton's but it is interesting to think that Bronson was originally lined up to take the reins at this point (Living Daylights).

Especially makes you wonder how a Brosnan Licence to Kill would have turned out - might have had quite an impact on his Bond portrayal in his other films...

Definitely. But at the same time I just feel like Brosnan would have looked too young as Bond at that point. I will also add that I feel like THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH is another Bond movie that's under appreciated. Whilst not as dark as Licence to Kill I do think it's his best portrayal as Bond and I enjoyed Renard and Elecktra as the villains.

It's my third favorite behind OHMSS and FRWL. I like Dalton's more brooding/introverted Bond and the exotic European feel. Bond's relationship with Kara is one of the best Bond/Bond Girl relationships too.
