Chae-geun 是个躁郁症司机。他经常和在美国学习的儿子谈话，告诉他会信守诺言。他扮演一个名叫 Jin-hee 的单身女人的临时未婚夫，帮了他一个忙。 Jin-hee 是他经常光顾的一家餐厅的女招待。她的父亲是1980年 Gwangju Uprising 事件的受害者，给他看了一把他39年前藏起来的枪，并请他帮忙报复那些对5月18日事件负有责任的人。

Chae-geun is a driver for hire with manic depression. He often talks to his son who is studying in the States and tells him he would keep his promise. He does a favor by acting as a temporary fiancé of a single woman named Jin-hee, who works as a waitress at a restaurant he frequents. Her father, who was a victim of the Gwangju Uprising in 1980, shows him a gun he stashed away 39 years ago and asks Chae-geun to help him exact revenge on those who were responsible for the May 18 incident.

주인공 채근은 우울증에 걸린 대리운전 기사다. 그는 미국에 유학간 아들과 종종 통화하며 그와 한 약속을 지키겠다고 말한다. 그가 단골로 다니는 식당에서 일하는 종업원인 노처녀 진희의 부탁으로 그녀의 임시 약혼자 역할을 한다. 5.18 피해자인 그녀 아버지는 암에 걸려 시한부 인생이다. 그녀 아버지는 그에게 39년전 5.18때 숨겨둔 권총을 보여준다. 그러면서 자기가 죽기전에 5.18 가해 책임자들에게 복수하고 싶다며 도와달라고 부탁한다. 하지만 복수를 준비하던 과정에서 죽게 된 진희의 아버지. 채근이 그 권총을 숨겨두고 죽은 진희 아버지를 대신해 5.18 책임자들에게 복수할 준비를 한다.
