Discuție Se7en

Item: Se7en

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: The official title of the movie is "Seven". "Se7en" is just a stylized way to write it on posters. Writing it this way with a 7 makes it harder to find it in search etc.

It's not even always written as "Se7en" on posters, for example see the featured one here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_(1995_film) which shows it as "Seven".

It's how the film title is written in the opening credits.

See the discussion in this other thread: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/807-se7en/discuss/6255b1100dea6e004f73cce1

Long story short, Fincher himself says it is Seven: https://twitter.com/FincherAnalyst/status/1217100294103937025

I would suggest the "original title" be changed to Seven and set Se7en as an alternate title.

So how about it, Banana? Can we get this updated to what the director says is true?

So David Fincher said this in one interview in 2002 and that's now supposed to be an exception like the one we have for mother!? No, that is not enough to change it. Compare it to mother! where the specific title style was heavily promoted for months by director, production company and distributor. Original title can stay.

The "original" title is "Seven," the title it was consistently promoted under and on all the posters, press releases, reviews, ect. The title "SE7EN" is the stylized version in the open credits (never used in promoting the film until years later for the DVD release, which similarly uses it in all caps). This discussion with a mod has clarified that the rule preferring the title as shown in the onscreen credits is when promotional material is inconstant within itself. But "SE7EN" was never used to promoted the film, only "Seven" (and "seven").

I have to agree with the users above, even trying to find this film using the search function is more difficult than it should be. It seems like the rules are being inconsistently here, and changing the name of the film to "Seven" wouldn't be an exception like it's been noted above, but rather a move towards uniformity in the way titles are handled.
