One of my favourite actors, Christopher Plummer turns 88 today (13 December). His screen career stretches back to the early 1950s and he shows no sign of slowing down, most recently having been cast, shot his scenes and started accumulating awards recognition for All the Money in the World within a matter of a few weeks!
If forced to choose, my two favourite Christopher Plummer performances would both be portraying real people - his Rudyard Kipling in The Man Who Would Be King and Mike Wallace in The Insider.
He was, of course, also a memorable Captain Von Trapp (yes, another real person!) in The Sound of Music, and a splendid Sherlock Holmes in Murder by Decree.
Many happy returns!
