Discuss Better Call Saul

Man, where are all the fans flocking to discuss these episodes? I keep expecting a flurry of posts but I get CRICKETS here at TMDB. Someone send me to where it’s fun to talk about these shows please ✌️

Anywho

I thought it was again very entertaining. As stated before I’m just loving this storyline of how we get to B.B. Even the intro was awesome seeing Jimmy/Saul panicked in his lawyer office having the shredding and gathering his loot and making his Vacuum repair call.

Then the start of how Gus creates his dry cleaning Meth Lab. Love to know how he screened out each guy. First guy was quickly vetted out. Why? Second guy wow he was good.

Jimmy getting mugged seemed sadly pathetic. He knew he was in very shady area. Wonder if we get how he paid for those phones seeing he ran fake sales receipts. He gonna pay for it himself?

Certainly see Jimmy heading towards B.B. but when do we see Kim depart. Why and how very intriguing

More later as I’d like to rewatch episode and see what others might think.

He put money in the register for the phones

Ah ok. I saw the receipts and just missed that. So he was selling them just to show he sold at store or easier for him to sell to street folks vs waiting for them to come to store.

Wondering that myself?

Going to have to re-watch and look for some "tells".

Yeah.

After he had sold all the phones and was standing there enjoying his burger in triumph, I was thinking: Finally! Finally! A win! Then when he got mugged—couldn’t help but think: “This man really can’t catch a break! Here he was uneasy about the bikers, and it turned out that some punk kids were the real threat.

Even with the mugging—still don’t understand why Jimmy got rid of the “who’s listing” signage from the front of the store.

I had to smiley when Jimmy flushed that shrink’s card down the toilet after his men’s room talk with Howard. Howard told Jimmy that he sees a shrink twice a week(?). I guess, after hearing/seeing how messed-up mentally and physical Howard is, Jimmy wasthinkingseeing a shrink is not a road he wants to go down.

Thought about it...

Maybe because the first guy was too free with information about a previous job.

Really can imagine him, on being questioned about his ability on some future job, saying: Of course I can do it; I once built a (however many square feet) underground meth lab for a guy in Albuquerque in seven month—all at night and without being detected!

I think giving that first guy a thumbsdown_tone1 was all about "Loose lips...."

I think he had second thoughts after getting "mugged" and had second thoughts because he lied to Kim about what happened. I'm sure he over reacted and decided to remove the lettering on the store front

I'm not sure why kim would risk losing Mesa Verde as a client. I understand, she had already talked to the girl and persuaded her to go to court. I also know that kim wants to help people. It's a huge risk and when kim said it would never happen again...My guess is it will and she will lose Mesa Verde...Although, if you want to wade into breaking bad territory, Kim takes on a client and finds out that Jimmy is connected to a drug ring and she bails out...the show can go in a lot of different directions from here with Kim. The other characters are pretty much locked in

I think most still think Kim is long gone before Jimmy transforms into Saul. I may be wrong, but I don't think there was any mention of Kim at all in Breaking Bad.

I think you are right. A lot went on in Breaking Bad, so could have missed it--but, don't think so.

They didn't. But I think that is what most people are wondering, is what happens to Kim. The seeds have been sown for the rest of the characters...Will Kim be killed off or will her morality save her?

I agree with you on this. Also, he seemed way over confident as well. The next guy was all about how difficult it was going to be.

Yeah.

Loved that bit at the end where the guy is back at his car, takes of that hood, and finds a boarding pass in his pocket. Couldn't help but smile .

Lol...yea he really tried to oversell himself.

Just some general rapid fire thoughts after reading this thread, and just now seeing episode 5 today:

  • I really enjoyed this episode, a lot more than the last two.
  • It was cool to see my actual car in the portion with the first guy driving to get screened for Gus' lab.
  • The second guy was far more thorough in his research. I feel like Mike appreciated that level of detail.
  • I felt bad for Jimmy when he got mugged, but also didn't understand how he wouldn't expect something to go awry in that shady area of town with all the dicey characters at the hot dog spot. Couldn't he at least keep a bat in the trunk?
  • I LOL'd when he sold the phone to the big biker dude.
  • Kim hanging up on Paige was unexpected, and I think shows that she is starting to get stressed out with everything.
  • I liked getting to see a Franchesca cameo. She's got utter contempt for Saul by the end; such a contrast from when she first started as a young, bright-eyed secretary a few seasons back.
  • Jimmy is going down a dark, slippery road telling those white lies here and there to Kim. I guess that's the point.
  • Speaking of which, DAMN, Kim is looking finer and finer imo, and is hot as hell with the broken arm/cast.
  • Maybe I am weird for thinking that last part.
  • I can't wait to see the next episode!
