Why does the reviewer say that "It's a shame that this series isn't working out so far" ? I've seen 5 episodes and I'm quite impressed with it. Is there any sign that viewers in general have dismissed it as a failure?

What review are you talking about? And, no I've really only seen very positive responses to it, at least online.
I was disappointed in it, personally. I felt it was a conjob. It asked an extremely fascinating question (what is consciousness?) without ever intending to answer it, nor being really qualified to answer it. At best it can be said it made people think about the issue.
But i'd be interested in reading the review you mention, since, like i said - i feel like i am the only one who disliked it.

I think raising interesting questions and making people think is an accomplishment in itself, not a "Con Job".
I've only seen 5 episodes so far. From all the spoilers here, apparently there's a big twist at the end that a lot of viewers disliked. The series "THE GOOD PLACE" also ended the season with a big twist, but the viewers there seemed to like it.

Well, then watch all of it first!
Leftovers asks questions, Mr.Robot asks questions, but it thinks them with you. Westworld just lures you in and then goes completely off topic and just strings you along. But it's got lots of graphic violence and naked ladies in it, so it's all good!

Where and when is Westworld...? With the power to create these robots, would you waste them on a stupid theme park? So everyone arriving from the outside world (whatever and whenever that is/was) is just a robot returning to its master. It must have to do with learning, experience, evolution kind of thing Idk yet.

"With the power to create these robots, would you waste them on a stupid theme park?" Actually it's a clever idea. Better shutting them up in the theme park than having them do useful work and taking jobs away from humans. In many science fiction stories (from Asimov's CAVES OF STEEL to BLADERUNNER), future societies pass laws limiting robots to keep them from becoming competitors.

The world outside Westworld (aka reality) is at least highly occupied by these types of robots --if not dominated. Somebody in the past of this future unleashed them, free of anything Asimov rules. But they seem of varying intelligence (Turing-wise) in the way of asking "Does IT knows what IT is" questions . Their return is for finding these answers.

Most guys think of sex, food, work, hobbies, not necessarily in that order. My BIL will only watch a movie if there is sex, violence, and explosions. There's an awful lot of talking in Westworld. Talking bores some men. Women are usually into talking.

I guess I'm not a typical guy, then, because I enjoy the way all the talking in WESTWORLD reflects all the different points of view on the circumstances. Ford's notion of robots as a new stage of evolution, Bernard throwing himself into research to distract himself from personal tragedy, Sizemore pompously thinking he's created a new art form, William thinking that he's found a perfect love, etc.

All of those characters and their motivations are delusional in some ways. It's about them, not the robots. Arnold thought they were a new stage of evolution, and that they were his children, I think Ford Co-opted Bernard's thinking after running the park a few years.
