What Are Little Girls Made Of?

I've watched this episode a few times, and every time I see it I have the same two questions. Number one: When Chapel kisses Roger Korby, why couldn't she tell that he was an Android; and Number two: Exactly what function was Andrea created for?

Because he was such a well made Robot mimicking heartbeat skin texture warm skin temperature etc etc.
Well men can get pretty lonely living on a planet for years and without wives and girlfriends...so... you know... adult stuff She probably was just a prototype .

Now that seems a rather dumb reason to make her she is just a prototype Korby built her first to test if the theory worked.

Actually he first had to put himself and "Brownie" into android bodies since they were dying.

I think she was just a means to test the science and technology before Korby and Brownie transfered themselves into their new Robot bodies .

Nice trick, if he was able to do that while dying, with no legs...
And the episode seems pretty clear that Brown came before Andrea.

Good point. I think I read somewhere that the actress who played Andrea, Sherry Jackson, had been a Playboy centerfold. And the way Chapel looked at Andrea when they were first introduced, Chapel may have been wondering if Andrea had kept Korby "company" for the 5 years they had been on Exo III.

True, but although we find out early in the episode that Andrea's an Android, it's not until the last five minutes that it's revealed that Korby is an Android as well.

Maybe Korby is an upgrade of the Andrea model.

I hadn't thought about that. I remember when Kirk and Chapel saw the wires in his arm, Korby told them that Ruk had transferred his consciousness into the Android because Korby was dying.
